I have arrived in France! After a rather tiring trip I settled into my room in the team house which is on a holiday resort called Domain Le Capitelle. The resort is about 10km from Aubenas, the closest major city, and right on the Ardeche River which looks rather cold at the moment! The resort which apparently pumps in the summer is rather quiet for now. The putt-putt course looks especially quiet and will definitely need a few rounds from me in the near future.

Since we are outside the town, the team has provided us with a shuttle car to go and do groceries and whatever else we need in Aubenas. The 10km trip is going to be quite interesting in it I think…

Our accommodation is made up of 4 rooms linked to a communal kitchen and sitting area, which is dominated by bikes! My roommate is a Polish rider  who says he managed to put together a month of 40hr training weeks on his cyclocross bike in a Polish winter. I think he’s a pretty tough guy…

I set off for a brief flurry in the bigger hills yesterday but the cold eventually got the better of me and sent me home even though I was wearing a ton of clothes. Luckily I have my stock of Five Roses tea to warm me up afterwards.  I am really looking forward to exploring them dressed in shorts and a jersey in the summer, which I hope actually arrives this year.
