Girona in Spain is a hub for athletes and especially cyclists. The mountains, constant sun and quiet roads make this the perfect place to ride a bike. As a climber, racing exclusively in the flat lands of Belgium and Holland can get a little frustrating. Belgium is the perfect place to learn your trade and better yourself in all aspects of cycling; however I really am missing the hills.

The week long visit to Girona just rekindled my love of climbing; having mountain passes of over 10km and with 1000m of ascent on your doorstep is something I hope to have one day. The trip  refreshed my mind and gave me new focus to return to Belgium with. Belgium may be the place to learn but Spain is the place I want to be in the next few years.
